Inside the apartment
Many apartments in Zagreb are near the centre. This one IS the centre.
The apartment takes up the mezzanine floor of a historic building on the edge of Dolac, the covered market that has fed the city since 1930. 52 square metres: a bedroom with a queen size double bed, a living room with two comfortable sofa beds, a full kitchen, and windows that look out over the market stalls and the rooftops behind them. You get the whole flat — no shared hallway, no host in the next room.
It suits the kind of trip where you want to walk everywhere: two couples, a family of four, three friends or just one or two guests who want room to spread out
Below the living room windows the market packs up by two in the afternoon, everything gets cleaned and the square goes quiet. You get both; the city bustiling with life during the day, and silence during the night when you need a good sleep.

Dolac market is right in front of the building. Delicious fruit, veggies, cheese, fish and flowers, every day from 7 am-2 pm, except on holidays.

Ban Jelačić square is in front of the buidling Almost all tram lines in the city pass through it, so if you do decide to go further out, you start from the middle of the network.

The old town is uphill from the door. The cathedral, St Mark's church, the funicular, Lotrščak tower and the museums of the upper town are all within a ten minutes walk.

The Tkalčićeva street starts below the living room windows. The street of bars and terraces is close enough to walk home from at two in the morning, and far enough that you don't hear it from the bedroom.
