With a rich history dating from 1094, Zagreb offers plenty of interesting sights for travelers: picturesque streets of the Upper town, beautiful architecture, famous squares with the monuments of the king Tomislav and governer (ban) Josip Jelacic, and many more. You can also enjoy the breathtaking city view from the Zagreb Eye viewpoint.
Museums
If you enjoy visiting museums, Zagreb is the city for you – the city of museums. Some of them are very unique, like the Museum of broken relationships, Museum of illusions or the memorial Center of Drazen Petrovic, the famous basketball player.
Nature & Parks
Zagreb has got many green areas where its citizens and visitors like to take a rest and relax, like Zrinjevac, Maksimir or the Botanical garden. There are also places for sports and excercising, like the lakes of Jarun and Bundek. You can take a trip to the Medvednica mountain above the city, to visit the Medvedgrad medieval castle, and Sljeme, the highest peak and a popular skiing resort.
Religion and culture
Among many richly decorated churches in the city, you shouldn’t miss the most famous Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary at Kaptol, and churches of St. Mark and St Catherine. Also, take time to check out the Croatian National Theatre,the Academy of Science and Arts and other cultural sights.
